Armenia Invites Diaspora Youth to Embrace Their Heritage with "Step Toward Home" Program 2024
Armenia's Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs has launched the "Step Toward Home" Program 2024, opening its doors to applications from Diaspora Armenian youth aged 13-18. This two-week initiative aims to provide an opportunity for young Armenians to explore their ancestral homeland, creating a deeper connection to their roots and enhancing their national identity.
The comprehensive program, scheduled from June 3rd to August 24th, encompasses a blend of activities. Participants will engage in Armenian language courses, spanning both Eastern and Western Armenian, alongside Armenian studies, national song and dance workshops. The itinerary includes visits to historical and cultural landmarks, museums, and educational institutions, offering a holistic understanding of Armenia's heritage.
Beyond cultural immersion, the program facilitates meetings with esteemed figures, including state and public officials, artists, and cultural icons. Participants will also partake in sports and cultural events, fostering a well-rounded experience.
In an inclusive approach, the "Step Toward Home" program aims to host 600 Diaspora Armenian youth, organized into six stages. Notably, the Government of Armenia covers all expenses related to the Armenian segment of the program, ensuring accessibility for eligible participants.
To be eligible, Diaspora Armenian youth who haven't previously taken part in the "Ari Tun" and "Step Toward Home" programs are invited to apply. While participants are responsible for their travel expenses, the application process is straightforward and must be completed on the official website of the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia by April 1st.a
