Armenia Outscores Ireland 2–1 in World Cup Qualifier in Yerevan

The Armenian national soccer team celebrated an important victory in the second round of the World Cup qualifying tournament, defeating Ireland 2–1 at the Vazgen Sargsyan “Republican” Stadium in Yerevan.

The first goal came in the opening minute of added time in the first half when Krasnodar midfielder Eduard Spertsyan scored from the penalty spot, giving Armenia the lead.

Early in the second half, Armenia doubled its advantage. In the 51st minute, forward Grant-Leon Ranos scored after receiving an assist from Nair Tiknizyan, who plays for Crvena Zvezda Belgrade.

Ireland answered quickly. Just six minutes later, Roma’s 20-year-old forward Evan Ferguson reduced the gap to 2–1. Despite Ireland’s pressure, Armenia kept control for most of the match.

Near the end of the game, Armenia thought it had secured a third goal. In the 88th minute, Ararat-Armenia forward Artur Serobyan scored after another pass from Tiknizyan. However, following a VAR review, the goal was ruled out due to a marginal offside.

With this victory, Armenia now stands in second place in Group F with 3 points. In the other match of the group, Portugal will play away against Hungary, with kickoff scheduled for 10:45 pm local time.
