Armenia's Four Clubs Set for UEFA Second Qualifying Round After Perfect European Start

Armenia will have four of its Football clubs competing in the second round of UEFA qualifying after a flawless opening week in European competition, with three teams advancing from the first round and FC Noah entering at this stage after receiving a direct place in the second qualifying round as the country’s league champion.

FC Pyunik delivered the most convincing performance of the opening round, comfortably eliminating Malta’s Marsaxlokk with a 4-0 aggregate victory to earn Armenia 0.500 UEFA coefficient points.

Ararat-Armenia secured its place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League by defeating Latvia’s Riga 4-3 on aggregate. After taking a 2-0 lead from the first leg, the Yerevan club advanced despite a 3-2 defeat in the return match, adding another 0.250 coefficient points.

Alashkert also progressed after a dramatic Conference League tie against Kazakhstan’s Yelimay. The teams finished level at 3-3 on aggregate before the Armenian side won the penalty shootout 6-5, collecting another 0.250 coefficient points.

Together, the three victories added 1.000 point to Armenia’s UEFA coefficient ranking.

Noah, which qualified directly for the Conference League’s second qualifying round as the 2025-26 Armenian Premier League champion, will begin its European campaign against Moldova’s Zimbru.
