Armenian-American Edmen Shahbazyan Defeats Brunno Ferreira at UFC 331 in Los Angeles

Armenian-American fighter Edmen Shahbazyan returned to the win column Saturday, defeating Brazil’s Brunno Ferreira by unanimous decision at UFC 331 in Los Angeles.

The middleweight bout, held on the preliminary card at Crypto.com Arena, went the full three rounds. Judges scored it 29-28, 29-28 and 30-27 for Shahbazyan.

Shahbazyan set the pace early, attacking Ferreira’s lead leg and using his range to keep the Brazilian from settling into an offensive rhythm. Ferreira, known for his finishing power, struggled to close the distance consistently in the opening round.

Ferreira became more aggressive as the fight progressed and found success with heavier shots, particularly in the third round, when he pushed Shahbazyan toward the cage.

Shahbazyan answered when it mattered. He dropped Ferreira twice in the final minute, putting an emphatic finish on a fight that ultimately went to the judges.

The victory was an important rebound for Shahbazyan after Brendan Allen ended his three-fight winning streak in his previous appearance.

Born in Glendale, California, to Armenian parents, Shahbazyan has maintained close ties to his Armenian heritage throughout his UFC career. The 28-year-old improved to 17-6 as a professional and 10-6 in the UFC.

Ferreira fell to 15-5 with his third consecutive loss.
