Armenian Government Announces Summer Conscription for 2024; Azerbaijan Holds 3rd Military Exercise in Recent Days
In a Cabinet session held on Thursday, the Armenian government unveiled its decision to initiate conscription and demobilization procedures for rank and file servicemen for the upcoming summer of 2024.
According to the official statement released after the session, conscription will be in effect from June 24 to July 31, encompassing a period during which new recruits will join the armed forces. Simultaneously, demobilization will occur from June 13 to July 31, allowing soldiers to return to civilian life after completing their service.
This decision marks a significant step in Armenia's defense strategy, as the nation continues to prepare for enemy attack and strengthen its military forces. Conscription serves as a vital mechanism for maintaining a capable defense force and ensuring national security.
However, amidst Armenia's preparations, neighboring Azerbaijan has also been active in military exercises. According to reports from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, the Azerbaijani army has recently conducted another round of military drills, marking at least the third exercise in the past fortnight.
The timing of these military activities in both Armenia and Azerbaijan shows the ongoing security concerns in the region.
