Armenian Officials Warn of Security Risks as Border Delimitation Begins
The delimitation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Baghanis and Voskepar sections, border villages within the Noyemberyan community, presents significant security concerns, according to local officials.
Armenian authorities announced the commencement of ground delimitation work on Tuesday.
"The new border renders the most critical parts of the community's territory vulnerable, posing a major threat to its population," the community stated.
"While we advocate for peace, the delimitation process effectively equates to unilateral concessions by Armenia, while Azerbaijani armed forces continue to occupy Armenian territories, including in Tavush Province. Given these circumstances, discussing peace for a few villages is unrealistic.
"Conducting border delimitation under such conditions is unacceptable to us. Therefore, the Noyemberyan community and its leadership, including the mayors of the border villages, do not support the border delimitation process and are not participating in any way," the statement concludes.
