Armenian Pair Finishes in Top 8 at World Championships With Best Career Result

The Armenian figure skating pair - Karina Akopova and Nikita Rakhmanin delivered the strongest performance of their careers at the 2026 World Figure Skating Championships in Prague, finishing eighth overall in the pairs competition. The duo earned a combined total of 190.46 points across their short and free programs, scoring a new personal best on the world stage.

The result places the Armenian skaters among the top pairs globally and shows the steady progress and growing confidence in international competition. Their performance in Prague stands as an important milestone as they continue to build experience against some of the world’s strongest teams.


The gold medal was won by Germany’s Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin, who added a world title to their previous Olympic bronze. Georgia’s Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava, the reigning European champions, secured the silver medal. Canada’s Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud completed the podium, taking bronze.


The competition in Prague brought together the leading pairs from around the world, with strong technical programs and high-level performances across the field. For Armenia, the top-eight finish signals continued development in figure skating and highlights the potential of Akopova and Rakhmanin on the international stage.
