Armenian Soccer Team Noah Makes History in Yerevan With 2–1 Win Over Legia, Reaches European Play-Off Round

Armenian soccer team Noah reached a major milestone on Thursday after defeating Poland’s Legia Warsaw 2–1 in Yerevan during the fifth round of the UEFA Conference League. The victory sends Noah into the European play-off stage for the first time in the club’s history. This is a new achievement for Armenian club football.

Sports journalist Gevorg Malakyan told The Armenian Report that Noah’s achievement in Yerevan is an important moment for Armenian football.

“I congratulate all Armenian football fans on this victory. This was a historic win. An Armenian club has never played in a European play-off before, and this is a great opportunity to make history and set a new standard,” Malakyan told us.

The match took place at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium. Legia struck early, with 26-year-old Danish forward Mileta Rajovic scoring in the third minute and putting the visitors ahead.

Noah responded strongly in the second half. In the 57th minute, 28-year-old Brazilian forward Mateus Ayas scored the equalizer, bringing Noah back into the match and lifting the atmosphere in the stadium.

The decisive moment came in the 84th minute. Noah’s 27-year-old Bosnian forward Nardin Mulahusejnovic scored the winning goal, completing a determined comeback and securing a historic victory for the Armenian side.

Armenian national team midfielder Vahan Bichakhchyan was among Legia’s substitutes and entered the pitch in the 82nd minute.

With this win, Noah now holds 8 points and stands in 13th place in the group standings. A total of 24 teams will qualify for the play-off round, and Noah’s advancement is the first time an Armenian club will compete at this stage of a European competition.
