Senior officials from Armenia and Azerbaijan met in the Armenian resort town of Dilijan for direct talks focused on advancing the bilateral peace process.
Azerbaijani presidential foreign policy adviser Hikmet Hajiyev and Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan held discussions on issues related to the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agenda, according to identical statements released by both sides following the meeting.
The officials emphasized the importance of maintaining direct dialogue between Yerevan and Baku as negotiations continue on unresolved issues stemming from decades of conflict.
Particular attention was given to initiatives aimed at building trust between civil society groups in both countries, showing a growing recognition of the role people-to-people engagement could play in supporting long-term stability and reconciliation.
The two sides agreed to continue working-level contacts and confirmed that their next meeting will take place in Azerbaijan. No further details about the discussions were disclosed.
The visit is Hajiyev’s first trip to Armenia. It follows an earlier visit by Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, who traveled to Armenia as part of the work of the bilateral border delimitation commissions.
The meeting comes as Armenia and Azerbaijan continue diplomatic efforts to finalize a peace agreement following years of tensions and conflict in the region.
