Deadly Azerbaijani Gunfire in Armenia's Syunik Leaves Village Residents in Panic and Terror
On Tuesday morning, residents of the Armenian village of Nerkin Hand in Syunik found themselves in a state of panic and terror due to the deadly gunfire from Azerbaijani forces. The Human Rights Defender's Office highlighted the impact of the Azeri shooting on the civilian population, citing disruptions to fundamental rights such as the right to life and the right to live safely.
The Ombudsperson's Office is actively investigating the human rights violations resulting from the Azeri gunfire on February 13 in Syunik, emphasizing the real danger posed by the Azeri military's actions in terms of ensuring the rights of the locals.
The incident, which began at 5:30 a.m. local time, targeted Armenian positions near Nerkin Hand. Reports indicate casualties on the Armenian side, with the Ministry of Defense confirming four soldiers killed and one wounded in the attack.
The wounded serviceman is currently in moderate condition, with the injuries not considered life-threatening, according to the latest information from the Ministry of Defense.
The fallen soldiers have been identified as Edvard Harutyunyan (born in 1974), Gagik Manukyan (born in 1982), Arsen Hambardzumyan (born in 1979), and Hrachya Hovhannisyan (born in 1957).
