G7 Foreign Ministers Urge Azerbaijan to Fully Fulfill Its Obligations Under Int. Humanitarian Law

The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, have collectively voiced their concerns over the forced displacement of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Armenians following Azerbaijan's military operation. In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, following their two-day meeting in Tokyo, the G7 foreign ministers called on Azerbaijan to fully fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law.

The statement emphasized the gravity of the humanitarian consequences resulting from the displacement of Armenians from Artsakh. It urged Azerbaijan to adhere to its commitments under international humanitarian law and welcomed international efforts aimed at addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of those who have been forcibly displaced.

We underline our support for advancing a sustainable and lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan based on the principles of non-use of force, respect for sovereignty, the inviolability of borders, and territorial integrity," the joint statement reads.
