Germany’s Naumburg Dedicates Armavir Alley, Honoring Armenian Sister City

A newly named alley honoring the Armenian city of Armavir was officially inaugurated in the German city of Naumburg during the annual Naumburg Hussite Cherry Festival.

The inauguration ceremony brought together local and Armenian officials, including Armavir Mayor Varsham Sargsyan, Naumburg Mayor Armin Müller, and Armenia's Ambassador to Germany, Viktor Yengibaryan.

The event was also attended by Armavir Regional Governor Vahram Khachatryan, Armenia's Honorary Consul in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt Michael Schmidt, Member of the Saxony-Anhalt State Parliament Daniel Sturm, representatives from the partner cities of Armavir and Naumburg, delegations from Les Ulis, France, and Aachen, Germany, as well as numerous local residents and international guests.

The dedication of the Armavir Alley shows the strengthening relationship between the two municipalities, which formally became sister cities in 2025 after signing a partnership agreement. Since then, Armavir and Naumburg have expanded cooperation through educational exchange programs, collaboration in viticulture, and initiatives aimed at boosting economic ties.

City officials said the new landmark symbolizes the growing friendship between Armenia and Germany at the local level while fostering greater cultural exchange and people-to-people connections between the two communities.
