Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Names Aramayis Avetisyan New Executive Director

The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has named Aramayis Avetisyan its new executive director, turning to a government official and nonprofit leader who helped oversee a $17 million fundraising campaign for the organization last year.

The Fund’s Board of Trustees elected Avetisyan on Monday with 22 votes in favor, none against and two abstentions. Twenty-four of the board’s 29 members participated. He took office Aug. 24.

Avetisyan has worked with the Fund since 2025 and coordinated its “Homeland and Eternity” pan-Armenian fundraising campaign that year. The effort brought in about $17 million, roughly 30% more than the average raised in recent years, according to the Fund.

His appointment puts him in charge of an organization that has spent more than three decades raising money from Armenians worldwide for projects in Armenia and responding to humanitarian emergencies.

Avetisyan told trustees that his priorities include improving the Fund’s internal operations and strengthening transparency and accountability. He also wants the organization to place greater emphasis on long-term planning rather than primarily responding to immediate needs.

Armenia-Diaspora ties will remain at the center of the Fund’s work.

An economist by training, Avetisyan has 13 years of experience in government, business and civil society. He has served as an assistant to the president of Armenia since 2022.

He studied international economic relations at the Armenian State University of Economics and previously worked at VEON Armenia, Tavush Textile and Akanat. His work has included management, institutional development, public policy, fundraising and communications.

In 2018, Avetisyan co-founded the Political Dialogue NGO and led the organization as executive director until 2022. He also completed compulsory military service in Armenia’s Armed Forces.

The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund was established in 1992 as a vehicle for bringing together resources from Armenia and the Diaspora. Since then, it has financed infrastructure, education, health care and social programs across Armenia and has mobilized assistance during humanitarian crises.

Avetisyan’s appointment comes as the Fund looks to pair that traditional fundraising role with a longer-term approach to development, while preserving its position as one of the main institutional links between Armenia and Armenian communities around the world.
