Hyatt Regency to Make Armenia Debut With Luxury Hotel in Dilijan

Armenia will welcome its first Hyatt Regency hotel after Hyatt Hotels Corporation signed an agreement with Armenian developer Green Rock to open the internationally recognized luxury brand in the mountain resort town of Dilijan.

The project is Hyatt Regency’s debut in Armenia and represents one of the country’s largest hospitality investments in recent years. Beyond adding a new luxury hotel, the development is expected to strengthen Dilijan’s position as a year-round destination for tourism, international conferences and business travel.

The agreement was signed on July 25 during a ceremony that also marked the official groundbreaking for the hotel. The event brought together representatives of Armenia’s government, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Green Rock and RM Engineering. Among those in attendance were Deputy Economy Minister Anushik Avetyan, Tourism Committee Chair Lusine Gevorgyan and Tavush Deputy Governor Narek Ghushchyan.

The hotel will be part of Green Rock’s larger mixed-use development in Dilijan. Plans for the complex include restaurants, bars, retail space, family entertainment centers, two movie theaters, a wellness and spa center, a fitness club and an outdoor swimming pool.

Hyatt Regency Dilijan will feature 205 guest rooms and suites, along with a conference center capable of hosting more than 550 guests. The project also includes a rooftop helipad designed to improve accessibility and support the city’s ambitions of attracting more international visitors and large-scale events.

Green Rock Management Group CEO Katerina Danekina called the agreement a milestone for both the company and Armenia’s tourism industry.

“We are delighted to introduce the Hyatt Regency brand to Dilijan,” Danekina said. “Together with Hyatt, we aim to create not just a hotel, but a destination that will attract guests throughout the year and contribute to the development of tourism, culture and the local community.”

Located about 90 minutes from Yerevan and roughly three hours from Tbilisi, Dilijan has long been considered one of Armenia’s leading tourism destinations. The new hotel is expected to expand the town’s appeal beyond leisure travel by positioning it as a venue for international meetings, business events and cultural gatherings.

Ludwig Bouldoukian, Hyatt’s regional vice president of development for the Middle East and Africa, said the company views Dilijan as a destination with strong long-term growth potential.

“We are pleased to introduce the Hyatt Regency brand to Armenia through our collaboration with Green Rock,” Bouldoukian said. “Dilijan has significant long-term potential, and Hyatt Regency is well positioned to support the city’s development as a leading destination for leisure, business meetings and international events.”

The project is also expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy. Hyatt Regency Dilijan is projected to create more than 400 jobs across hotel operations, hospitality, food service, wellness, engineering and event management.

Green Rock said its broader investment program in Dilijan is expected to generate more than 800 jobs, contributing to the long-term economic development of Armenia’s Tavush Province.

Hyatt Regency is one of Hyatt’s flagship premium brands, operating more than 245 hotels in over 50 countries. Its arrival in Armenia is expected to strengthen the country’s tourism infrastructure while introducing one of the world’s most recognized hotel brands to the Armenian market.

Green Rock has invested in projects across real estate, tourism, hospitality, education and public infrastructure in Dilijan. The company says its investment portfolio totals $160 million, with more than $30 million already invested, and that its developments follow internationally recognized construction, sustainability and project management standards.
