The fourth edition of the IT Cup, Armenia’s premier laser tag championship, wrapped up in an award ceremony last week, celebrating the standout teams of the tech sector. In this year’s high-stakes competition, the team from Synopsis claimed the top spot, with BostonGene finishing second, CoinStats in third, and Volo securing fourth place.


The IT Cup, organized by LaserWar Armenia, has grown to be more than just a fun competition for Armenia's tech industry—it’s an event that builds team spirit, communication, and camaraderie among employees of leading IT companies. The championship began in September, inviting diverse teams to compete in a series of intense, military-style laser tag games designed to test their strategic skills and ability to work together effectively under pressure.

Laser tag enthusiasts and tech professionals from all corners of the industry were excited to participate, seeing the event as both a team-building opportunity and a thrilling diversion from daily routines. Through each round, teams demonstrated their tactical abilities, strategizing to gain an edge in various realistic, military-inspired scenarios crafted to challenge even the most experienced players.


The organizers of the IT Cup, LaserWar Armenia, expressed their gratitude to all the participants, acknowledging their enthusiasm and commitment. "It’s important for us to conclude each year’s championship in a way that leaves all participants with positive and friendly memories,” they shared, highlighting their dedication to maintaining a sense of excitement and novelty each season. "We strive to make the games diverse with new scenarios and play areas each year, keeping laser tag exciting and fresh," they added.

In an interview with The Armenian Report, Artyom Harutyunyan, Founder of LaserWar Armenia, shared his perspective on the role of laser tag in building strategic thinking and teamwork. "Living in a country where the army plays an essential role, we believe that engaging in tactical games like laser tag provides a valuable experience," he explained.

According to Harutyunyan, the purpose of LaserWar Armenia goes beyond entertainment. By designing scenarios that mimic real-life military tactics, they offer participants an authentic experience in strategic decision-making. He emphasized, "Every year, we raise the level of challenge by introducing new locations and more complex scenarios. The teams are becoming increasingly skilled, so we need to keep evolving to provide fresh challenges."
