Armenian military personnel conducted a live-fire exercise featuring the domestically produced Atlant multiple-launch rocket system, testing the country's growing defense manufacturing capabilities and ongoing efforts to strengthen military readiness.
According to Armenia’s Ministry of Defense, soldiers from a rocket artillery unit carried out a series of training missions as part of a planned combat preparedness exercise. The drills included the engagement of simulated targets, all of which were reportedly struck with precision.
The exercise was designed to assess the unit’s defensive capabilities, test operational effectiveness, and improve coordination among personnel under field conditions.
“Our servicemen continue to deepen their knowledge through training and live-fire exercises,” unit commander Arik Gokoryan said. He noted that regular drills play a critical role in maintaining combat readiness and operational efficiency.
Military officials said that the Atlant system represents an important addition to Armenia’s arsenal. The domestically developed rocket launcher is intended for targeting enemy personnel, fire positions, military convoys, artillery batteries, mortar systems, and air defense assets.
The Ministry of Defense highlighted several advanced features of the Atlant platform, including an automated operating mode, an integrated weather station, and a high rate of fire. One of its most notable characteristics is its ability to be operated remotely, reducing risks to military personnel during combat operations.
“The crew communicates with the equipment from a distance of 500 meters to one kilometer,” Gokoryan explained. “When the system reaches its designated firing position, there are no personnel in its immediate vicinity.”

Operations commander Grigor Ayvazyan said the system’s automation significantly enhances battlefield safety by allowing operators to conduct missions remotely.
“The most effective systems are automated systems,” Ayvazyan said. “When equipment can be controlled from a distance, the most important objective is achieved: minimizing human losses.”
Military officials also stressed the importance of such exercises in strengthening professional skills, improving field coordination, and boosting morale among servicemen. Conscript Samvel Hakobyan described participating in the live-fire exercise as a memorable milestone for any artillery soldier.

“For every artilleryman, the first shot remains one of the strongest and most unforgettable memories,” Hakobyan said.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the exercise successfully enhanced the unit’s operational capabilities and tested the effectiveness of command and control systems. Officials added that the artillery unit was recognized as the best artillery formation within Armenia’s Armed Forces for the second consecutive year.
“The results of our previous training cycle give us confidence that we will achieve excellent outcomes in upcoming evaluations,” Ayvazyan said.
The exercise comes as Armenia continues efforts to modernize its military and expand domestic defense production amid a rapidly evolving regional security environment.
