Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan joined foreign dignitaries in Tehran on Friday to attend the official funeral ceremony for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, whose death has reshaped the country’s leadership at a time of heightened regional tensions.

Khamenei was killed on February 28 during U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Iran, ending his decades-long rule as the Islamic Republic’s highest political and religious authority. Following his death, his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, succeeded him as Iran’s supreme leader.
The funeral ceremony took place at Tehran’s Mosallah Mosque, where Pashinyan paid his respects alongside senior Iranian officials and international guests.

According to the Armenian government, the prime minister offered his condolences to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, and members of Khamenei’s family.
Pashinyan also honored Khamenei’s memory by signing the official book of condolences.
The visit comes as Armenia continues to maintain close ties with neighboring Iran, a key regional partner. Earlier Friday, Pashinyan met with President Pezeshkian, who thanked Armenia for its support during the conflict and expressed confidence that relations between the two countries would continue to deepen.
