Pashinyan Confirms Azerbaijan Will Get a Road Through Syunik Under Peace Deal

BREAKING: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has officially announced that the long-awaited peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is finalized and ready to be signed. Speaking to journalists outside the Civil Contract Party office, Pashinyan outlined the key provisions of the agreement and the next steps toward implementation.
A Road Through Syunik: Armenia’s "Crossroads of Peace" Strategy
Pashinyan confirmed that Armenia will provide Azerbaijan with a road through Syunik as part of the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative. He stated that this decision has been formally included in the peace agreement and will soon be implemented.
“Yes, there is an intention to provide a road to Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan said. “The details have been agreed upon in the final article, and now that the agreement is signed, we are ready to proceed immediately.”
The issue of a transport corridor through the southern region of Armenia has long been a key point of contention. Azerbaijan has sought an unimpeded route to its exclave of Nakhijevan, while Armenia has insisted on maintaining its sovereignty over any such passage. With the peace agreement signed, the details of the road’s operation will now be finalized in coordination with Azerbaijan.
Border Monitoring and the Withdrawal of Observers
Another major element of the peace agreement is Armenia’s commitment to withdrawing international observers from the border with Azerbaijan. Pashinyan stated that both sides have agreed not to allow third-party military forces along their shared border.
“After analyzing the agreement as a whole, we concluded that this compromise is acceptable to Armenia,” Pashinyan explained. “With the signing of the agreement, the process of observer withdrawal will now proceed according to the agreed timeline.”
Public Disclosure of the Agreement
Pashinyan assured the public that there are no hidden clauses in the peace deal, stating that its contents have already been shared in different ways throughout the negotiation process.
“We have no secrets from our society,” Pashinyan emphasized. “The articles of the agreement have been discussed publicly. Now that the agreement is signed, the full document will be made available.”
Discussions are ongoing regarding the logistics of the official signing ceremony, including the location and exact date. Both Armenian and Azerbaijani officials are working to finalize these details.
No Extradition of War Participants
Azerbaijan had previously demanded that Armenia extradite certain individuals who participated in the Artsakh war. However, Pashinyan reaffirmed that Armenia has not accepted any such conditions in the peace agreement.
“There are no unilateral provisions in the peace agreement,” Pashinyan said. “That means there are no clauses that apply only to Armenia
