Qatar Airways Cancels Flights to Armenia Indefinitely Due to Regional Tensions
Updated: 3 days ago
Qatar Airways has made the decision to cancel all flights to Armenia for an indefinite period. The airline shared this information in an official statement, citing concerns over flight safety due to ongoing territorial tensions in the region. Along with Armenia, flights to several other countries have been affected, including Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Kazakhstan.
In their statement, Qatar Airways emphasized that the safety of passengers and staff is their top priority, which led to the temporary suspension of flights to these destinations. However, the situation remains fluid, and it is unclear when flights to these countries will resume.
Despite this announcement, the Doha-Yerevan flight operated by Qatar Airways has not been canceled. According to the official website of Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan, this flight is still scheduled to arrive in the Armenian capital at 12:50 a.m. on Thursday. This update provides some relief to travelers planning to fly between Qatar and Armenia, as it suggests not all routes are impacted.
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia has reassured the public that there are no widespread flight cancellations to or from the country. According to their latest report, flights are continuing as planned. For example, FlyOne Armenia successfully completed its scheduled flight to Tel Aviv earlier in the day, and Armenian Airways is set to operate its flight to Tehran without any changes.
As tensions in the region fluctuate, airlines are taking precautionary steps to ensure safety, but local authorities are closely monitoring the situation. Passengers are encouraged to stay informed and check for the latest updates from airlines and local airports regarding any potential changes to their travel plans.
