"This is respect. This is honor. This is dignity. It is how the state of Ukraine says thank you to its people, its heroes, its legends," Zelensky said during the ceremony. He called on the nation to remember and applaud these individuals, who have left a lasting legacy and continue to inspire future generations.

Sergei Parajanov, who was posthumously awarded the National Legend of Ukraine, is widely regarded as one of the greatest masters of cinema. Born in 1924, Parajanov's work has had a profound influence on filmmakers, artists, and creatives around the world. His films, “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors” (1964) and “The Color of Pomegranates” (1969), are considered masterpieces of world cinema. These films, known for their unique visual style and deep cultural significance, earned Parajanov legendary admirers such as Federico Fellini, Jean-Luc Godard, and Andrei Tarkovsky.

Despite his genius, Parajanov faced significant challenges throughout his life. He was imprisoned three times due to his outspoken nature and unconventional views. Yet, his artistic spirit never wavered. Parajanov's creative works, particularly his Mona Lisa collages, placed him among the ranks of iconic artists like Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol.

Parajanov's influence extends far beyond the borders of Ukraine and Armenia, where he is celebrated as a People's Artist. His work has inspired major directors from Hollywood to Iran, fashion designers from New York to Brazil, and has even influenced pop culture icons like Madonna and Lady Gaga. The global recognition of his genius is a testament to the universal appeal and enduring legacy of his art.a
