Vahan Bichakhchyan Named Best Player for Polish Club 'Pogon'

Vahan Bichakhchyan, the talented midfielder of the Armenian national football team, has been honored as the best player of the Polish club "Pogon" for the first half of the season. The announcement was made by the club's press service, representing the city of Szczecin.


Bichakhchyan, a 24-year-old football sensation, secured this title with an overwhelming 51 percent of the votes from fans. Throughout the current season, he showcased his skills in 23 matches with "Pogon," scoring 5 goals and providing 2 assists, contributing significantly to the team's success.


As of now, after 19 rounds of the Polish championship, "Pogon" stands in a commendable 6th position with 30 points, a testament to the team's competitive spirit in the league.


A brief overview of Vahan Bichakhchyan's career reveals his dedication and skill on the field. Born on July 9, 1999, in Gyumri, Armenia, he has established himself as an attacking midfielder for Ekstraklasa side Pogoń Szczecin and a valuable member of the Armenia national team. His football lineage includes being the son of Vardan Bichakhchyan, a former player who recently managed Ararat Yerevan.


Bichakhchyan's journey includes signing a five-year contract with Žilina in July 2017 and making his Fortuna Liga debut in a match against Slovan Bratislava in February 2018. In January 2022, he made a significant move to Pogoń Szczecin, where he signed a 3.5-year contract for €900,000 ($980,000).


His impact goes beyond the club level, with the Armenian Football Federation recognizing Bichakhchyan as the third-best player of the year in December 2020. This acknowledgment placed him in prestigious company, trailing behind national team captain and Roma star Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Astana midfielder Tigran Barseghyan.
