European champion Vazgen Tevanyan secured victory at the international tournament held in Zagreb, Croatia, excelling in the freestyle wrestling category.


The tournament's final match was canceled due to an injury sustained by the Iranian wrestler, leading to Tevanyan's automatic win and acclaim as the tournament's champion.


Tevanyan's impressive journey to victory began with a performance in the 1/8 finals, where he dominated Arsamerzoev from France with an outstanding score of 12:1. In the subsequent quarterfinals, the Armenian wrestler triumphed over his American opponent with a score of 5:2.


The defining moment arrived in the semi-finals, where Tevanyan secured a resounding 9:1 victory over Sebastian Rivera, the renowned representative from Puerto Rico and vice-champion of the world. This triumph propelled Tevanyan into the tournament's finals.


Notably, Vazgen Tevanyan represented the sole Armenian participant in the Zagreb tournament, among a total of 550 athletes encompassing Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling categories, alongside female competitors.
