World’s Largest Iranian Trade Center Opens in Armenia, Strengthening Economic Ties Between Two Neighboring Countries
On Monday, Armenia signified a new milestone in its trade relationship with Iran by opening the world’s largest Iranian trade center. The center is located in Armenia and is expected to play a key role in expanding economic and business ties between the two neighboring countries. The inauguration was attended by Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, several officials from both countries, Iranian ministers, and Iranian Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani.
During the opening ceremony, Ambassador Sobhani expressed his pride in launching the trade center in Armenia. "It is a great honor for us to open the world's largest Iranian trade center here in Armenia," Sobhani said. He said that the center will act as a powerful catalyst for strengthening the economic and trade relationship between Iran and Armenia, while also deepening cooperation in other sectors such as transport and energy.
The opening of the trade center comes at a time when economic ties between Iran and Armenia have been growing rapidly. According to Ambassador Sobhani, trade between the two nations has seen substantial growth in recent years, and the new center will further contribute to this upward trend. He noted that both countries are committed to developing their relationship across a wide range of areas and that the center will serve as a hub for business activities and cooperation.
"The leaders of the two countries have set a goal of reaching $3 billion in trade, and we are determined to make this a reality," Sobhani added. He said that there is strong political will on both sides to enhance economic collaboration and reach this ambitious target.
The Iranian trade center, which was financed by the Iranian government, spans approximately 18,000 square meters and houses more than 100 Iranian companies. The center offers a unique opportunity for consumers and businesspeople in Armenia to purchase Iranian goods directly from manufacturers. The expansive space includes 107 exhibition booths of varying sizes, where a wide range of products are showcased. It also features a conference room designed for business-to-business (B2B) meetings and an open area for hosting events and festivals, further encouraging collaboration between Armenian and Iranian businesses.
Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan praised the opening of the center as a major step in the development of economic and trade relations between the two friendly nations. "Armenia highly values its cooperation with Iran, and the opening of this trade center is another important step forward," he said. Papoyan expressed optimism that the new facility will lead to increased trade volumes, enhanced business partnerships, and new opportunities for growth in both countries.
The trade center is expected to have a broad impact, not only on Armenian-Iranian trade but also on regional commerce. The center's strategic location in Armenia positions it as a gateway for Iranian goods to enter new markets, while Armenian companies will have greater access to Iranian products and investment opportunities. With this new facility, both nations are set to benefit from enhanced economic activity and deeper integration.
