Alexis Ohanian Supports Armenian Athletes at 2024 Paris Olympics
Armenian-American entrepreneur and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian is showing his strong support for Armenian athletes competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Ohanian, who is known for his investment in women’s sports and is married to tennis legend Serena Williams, is in Paris with his family to be a part of the historic event.
Ohanian, who is deeply proud of his Armenian heritage, is encouraging the Team Armenia athletes. “I’m out here stopping every Armenian athlete I find and wishing them luck,” Ohanian shared on social media, along with a photo of himself with Armenian athletes in the Olympic village.
Armenia is represented by 15 athletes at the 2024 Olympics. On Sunday, gymnasts Artur Davtyan and Vahagn Davtyan made headlines by qualifying for the finals, which will take place on August 4. Their progress is a significant achievement for the Armenian team and a moment of pride for Ohanian and all supporters of Armenian sports.
Unfortunately, not all Armenian athletes were able to advance. Swimmer Varsenik Manucharyan and shooter Elmira Karapetyan did not qualify for their respective events. Despite these setbacks, the support from figures like Ohanian remains a significant boost for the athletes and their efforts.
Ohanian’s presence and support shows the strong connections between diaspora Armenians and their support for Armenian athletes on the global stage. His commitment to promoting sports and his visible enthusiasm at the Olympics serve as an inspiration for many.
As the games continue, Ohanian’s encouragement is expected to provide a morale boost for the Armenian team, demonstrating the power of international support and the impact of personal pride in sports achievements.
