Armenia Outpaces Five Countries in Passenger Growth Across Eurnekian’s 52-Airport Network

Armenia posted the strongest passenger growth across Corporación América Airports’ global network in the second quarter of 2026, followed by a record-breaking July that pushed traffic at the country’s two main airports to an all-time monthly high.

Passenger traffic in Armenia rose 13% from the same quarter last year, outperforming every other market in the airport operator’s portfolio, according to the company’s latest financial results. The increase came despite flight cancellations and airspace restrictions linked to conflict in the Middle East.

Corporación América Airports, controlled by Argentine-Armenian businessman Eduardo Eurnekian, operates 52 airports across six countries: Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador, Armenia and Italy. Its network includes major international and regional airports across Latin America and Europe, as well as Armenia’s two international airports.

Against that international portfolio, Armenia recorded the company’s highest growth rate during the quarter. Passenger traffic increased by more than 5% in Italy, about 4% in Brazil and roughly 2% in both Uruguay and Ecuador. Argentina, the company’s largest market, saw traffic decline by about 6%.

Growth in Armenia accelerated further in July. Nearly 735,000 passengers traveled through Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport and Gyumri’s Shirak International Airport, up 17.2% from about 627,000 in July 2025.

The July total was the highest monthly passenger count ever recorded at Armenia’s airports, surpassing the previous record of about 667,800 passengers set in August 2025.

Zvartnots and Shirak handled 5,058 flights during July. From January through July, combined passenger traffic at the two airports reached 3.483 million, also a record for the period.

Across its global operations, Corporación América Airports handled approximately 21 million passengers during the second quarter. International passenger traffic increased nearly 6%, while domestic traffic fell 8%, largely because of weaker results in Argentina.

The company also reported an 8% increase in revenue when excluding the accounting impact of IFRIC 12, which applies to certain public-private concession agreements. Commercial revenue rose 13%.

CEO Martín Eurnekian said adjusted EBITDA recorded double-digit growth in four of the company’s six operating markets, including Armenia. Overall adjusted EBITDA totaled $160 million for the quarter, down 4.5% from a year earlier.

In Armenia, Corporación América Airports operates through Armenia International Airports CJSC, which manages Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan and Shirak International Airport in Gyumri.
