Armenia’s Janes Nazaryan Wins U17 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Championship in Athens

Armenia’s Janes Nazaryan has won the gold medal in the 65-kilogram weight category at the U17 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Championship. The tournament took place in Athens, Greece, and brought together some of the best young wrestlers from around the world.
Nazaryan became world champion after a strong series of matches. In the final, he faced Georgia’s Erekle Tavberidze. It was a close and intense match, but Nazaryan won with a score of 5:4, securing the top spot on the podium.
His journey to the gold medal started in the qualification round, where he faced Arseny Kikinov from the United States. Nazaryan took an early lead and finished the match 4–1. Next, he faced Azerbaijan’s Huseyn Iskandarov and easily won 9–1.
In the quarterfinals, he faced Kilian Edouin of France, who had previously won a bronze medal in European competition. Nazaryan did not let the past achievements of his opponent slow him down, and he won the match with a clear 6:0 score.
The semifinal was another strong performance for the Armenian wrestler. With a 3:1 win over Ukraine’s Yehor Tarasenko in the semifinal, Nazaryan moved into the final and went on to claim the gold.
