Armenia’s Narek Davtyan claimed silver at the 2026 World Cadet Judo Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador, after reaching the final of the men’s 55-kilogram division.
Davtyan’s run included a victory over France’s Jules Bacquet, the reigning European champion. He followed that performance with a semifinal win over a Ukrainian opponent, securing his place in the championship bout.

In the final, Davtyan faced Sebastian Teran of the United States. Teran won the match, leaving the Armenian judoka with the silver medal.
Karen Navasardyan and Narek Nahapetyan also represented Armenia on the opening day of competition in the 50-kg and 60-kg divisions. Both won their first bouts before losing their next matches and exiting the tournament.

Armenia will return to the mat Aug. 21, when Sergey Gevorgyan competes in the 66-kg division.
The Armenian cadet team is competing in Ecuador under head coach Hovhannes Davtyan.
