Armenian Adelia Petrosyan Dominates Russian Figure Skating Championship for Third Straight Title

Eighteen-year-old Armenian figure skater Adelia Petrosyan delivered a stunning performance at the Russian Figure Skating Championship in Saint Petersburg, strengthening her bid for a third straight national gold medal. Her skating was confident, clean, and powerful, clearly setting her apart from the rest of the field and placing her among the top figures in the sport today.

Petrosyan, who is of Armenian heritage, showed full control in both the short program and the free skate. From the opening moments of her routine, it was clear that she was competing at a higher level. She began with a strong triple axel and followed it with a difficult combination that included a quad and double toe loop. Every element was executed with precision, and her movement across the ice was smooth and calm. She completed her programs without a single visible mistake.

One of the most impressive moments was her clean solo quadruple toe loop, a jump that only a small number of women in the world can land consistently. Even before the performance ended, it was clear the audience was watching a skater already established as a two-time Russian champion and widely viewed as a future Olympic contender. The judges awarded Petrosyan a total score of 262.92 points, an outstanding result that may surpass the record she set one year earlier.

The gap between her and the rest of the competitors was not only large but historic. Silver medalist Darya Sadkova finished with 234.69 points, creating a difference of 28.23 points between first and second place, the largest margin ever recorded at the Russian Figure Skating Championships.
