Armenian Flag and Language Spotlighted in New Episode of HBO’s “Euphoria”

The Armenian language and Armenian flag made a prominent appearance in the seventh episode of the third season of Euphoria, which premiered in April, through the introduction of a new Armenian character connected to the storyline of Nate Jacobs.

The role is played by Armenian-American actor Jack Topalian, who earlier spoke with The Armenian Report about joining the globally popular HBO series. In the interview, Topalian described the opportunity as a major milestone in his career and discussed the importance of Armenian representation in international television.

According to Topalian, his character is an Armenian businessman who becomes involved in the darker and more dangerous side of the storyline surrounding Nate Jacobs, portrayed by Jacob Elordi. The episode featured Armenian cultural elements, including visible use of the Armenian language and the Armenian tricolor flag, drawing attention from Armenian viewers around the world.

In his interview with The Armenian Report, Topalian said being cast in Euphoria represented recognition for years of work in the film and television industry. He also spoke about remaining connected to his Armenian roots while building a career in Hollywood.

For many Armenians watching around the world, the appearance of Armenian language, Armenian symbols, and an Armenian character in one of HBO’s biggest productions marked a rare moment of visibility for Armenian culture in mainstream international entertainment.
