A $500 million artificial intelligence (AI) factory — the largest technological initiative in the region —was announced by Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan. He called it a defining moment for the country’s place in global innovation.
“This is not just a step forward — it is a leap,” Hayrapetyan wrote on his official Facebook page. “Armenia is not watching from the sidelines. We are entering the global AI revolution as creators, builders, and leaders.”
The initiative is a joint effort between the Government of Armenia, global tech leader NVIDIA, and the Firebird investment group. After months of planning, they are set to break ground on a high-capacity AI facility that will be equipped with thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and supported by over 100 megawatts of infrastructure — a scale never before seen in the region.
The facility is expected to be operational by 2026 and will serve as more than just a tech hub. It is designed to be a center for research, education, and entrepreneurship — a place where Armenian scientists, engineers, and students can develop new technologies and gain the tools to shape the digital future.
“This is a strategic investment in Armenia’s long-term future,” said Hayrapetyan. “It’s about creating opportunities at home for our talent — so that our brightest minds don’t have to leave the country to innovate. They can do it right here.”
The project is also expected to boost Armenia’s economy by creating thousands of jobs, increasing demand for high-skilled workers, and attracting international attention and investment.
At a time when many young Armenians are looking for opportunities abroad, the AI factory aims to reverse that trend. By offering world-class infrastructure and connections to leading companies like NVIDIA, it provides a rare opportunity for innovation on Armenian soil.
“This initiative will reshape the technological map of the region,” Hayrapetyan declared.
The AI factory is proof that Armenia, with vision and determination, can lead the way in a world increasingly driven by digital transformation.
