Armenian Lacrosse Coach Delivers Bible Reading at Tsitsernakaberd on Day 3 of Tour

Armenian Lacrosse co-founder and coach Johnny Mouradian continued his 12-day Bible reading tour across Armenia on Thursday, delivering his third reading at the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex in Yerevan.

Mouradian again read from the third chapter of the Gospel of Mark, focusing on Jesus’ warning about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

“Truly I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter,” Mouradian read. “But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of the eternal sin.”

The passage recounts Jesus’ response to religious teachers who accused him of being possessed by an unclean spirit.

Mouradian concluded the video by repeating the message at the heart of his journey.

“As always, bring a friend, bring a family member to church this Sunday and every Sunday,” he said. “Join the movement.”

The Aug. 13 reading is the third day of Mouradian’s biblical road trip, which began at the History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan. On the second day, he read from the Gospel of Mark beside the Mesrop Mashtots statue outside the Matenadaran.

Tsitsernakaberd honors the 1.5 million Armenians killed by the Ottoman Empire during the Armenian Genocide. The memorial’s eternal flame is surrounded by 12 stone slabs representing the 12 Armenian provinces lost during the genocide.

Mouradian plans to visit a different historic, religious or cultural site each day through Aug. 22. Upcoming stops include Gyumri, Khor Virap, Oshakan, Vayk, Geghard, Mount Hatis and Akhtala.

The journey will conclude at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in Vagharshapat, the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Mouradian launched the tour to encourage Armenians to attend church and invite friends and family members to join them each Sunday.
