Azerbaijani Armed Forces Open Fire in Artsakh's Martakert, Martuni, & Sarushen

On August 22, between 06:00 and 07:00, the Azerbaijani armed forces breached the ceasefire in the Martakert, Martuni and Sarushen regions of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). This breach involved the use of small arms, further straining the already tense situation in the region.

Despite the use of arms, no casualties or losses have been reported on the Armenian side as a result of these incidents. However, the continuous violations underscore the fragile nature of the current ceasefire and the challenges that persist in maintaining peace in the area.

The same day saw another distressing incident as the Azerbaijani armed forces once again disrupted the relative calm in Artsakh. At approximately 12:30, they opened fire at a harvester that was actively working in the fields of Sarushen. The use of small arms against the agricultural machinery is a concerning escalation of tensions in the area.

Thankfully, no losses or casualties were reported on the Armenian side as a result of this targeted attack. However, this incident serves as a reminder of the volatility of the situation and the potential for violence to erupt once more.

Just like the previous violations, this incident was promptly reported to the command of the Russian peacekeeping troops. Their continued involvement and oversight are vital in preventing further outbreaks of violence and maintaining a fragile peace in Artsakh.
