Aida Aznavour-Karvarents, the sister of legendary French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour, has passed away at the age of 102. The Aznavour family and the Aznavour Foundation announced her death with deep sorrow, remembering her as a woman of love, strength, and devotion.
Born in 1923 in Thessaloniki, Greece, during her family’s exile, Aida shared an unbreakable bond with her brother Charles. They grew up together in Paris, holding close to their Armenian roots and their family’s strong sense of identity. Their relationship was one of deep affection and mutual respect, built on shared history, music, and a lifelong dedication to humanity.
Throughout her long life, Aida remained a central figure in the Aznavour family. Charles often described her as the family’s anchor and the guardian of their memories. She witnessed a century of change, embodying the same values that defined the Aznavour legacy — kindness, loyalty, humility, and faith in art and people.
In a statement, the Aznavour family said: “Our hearts are saddened, but filled with gratitude for the years we shared with Aida. Her love and warmth will always remain with us. In marking Aida’s passing, we pay tribute not only to our beloved sister and aunt but also deeply honor the dignified and devoted life she lived.”
The family expressed their appreciation to all those who have shared their condolences and memories of Aida. She will be laid to rest in Montfort-l’Amaury, France, beside her family members and husband.
