Czech Parliament Speaker Says She Will Question Azerbaijan's Resistance to Respectful Solutions with Armenia During Baku Visit
Armenia is intensifying its efforts to promote lasting peace in the region, while Azerbaijan's reluctance to reciprocate is causing concern, according to statements made by Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan. Speaking alongside President of the Chamber of Deputies of Czechia Markéta Pekarová Adamová, Simonyan emphasized the need for international partners, including Czechia, to exert maximum pressure on Azerbaijan to facilitate peace. He expressed Armenia's readiness to engage in constructive dialogue but pointed to Azerbaijan's unwillingness to participate in talks mediated by various entities. Simonyan warned that Azerbaijan's actions may indicate a deliberate stall in the peace process.
Czechia Chamber of Deputies President, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, affirmed support for Armenia's pursuit of peace during her visit to Baku. In a joint press conference with Speaker Simonyan, Adamová discussed the importance of maintaining pressure on Azerbaijan to return to the negotiating table. She emphasized the significance of finding solutions that garner respect from Armenia's representatives. Adamová pledged to address these concerns during her visit to Baku, highlighting the commitment to use all available tools to encourage Azerbaijan's active participation in future negotiations.
"We must never give up and push them to have these conversations. This is very important. During my visit to Baku, I will definitely raise these questions, why they do not want to find solutions that will be respected by the representatives of Armenia. This is what we have to do. Of course, we will use all our opportunities to put such pressure on all representatives of Azerbaijan to continue participating in the negotiations," Adamová said.
The Speaker concluded the press conference by reaffirming Armenia's commitment to democracy in the region and its dedication to fostering peace. Despite the challenges, Simonyan expressed confidence that Armenia, as a democratic leader, will continue making strides toward peace and democracy with the support of international partners.
