In an effort at strengthening ties and bolstering defense cooperation, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, welcomed the Minister of Defense of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze, on an official visit to Armenia on November 17.


The meeting commenced with a ceremonial welcome, marked by the playing of the national anthems of both Armenia and Georgia, symbolizing the spirit of collaboration between the two nations.

Amidst cordial discussions and following an initial private conversation between the defense ministers, an extended meeting took place. Both parties highlighted the significance of their existing cooperation and delved into multifaceted issues encompassing Armenian-Georgian defense collaboration and regional security concerns.


Integral to their discussions were detailed presentations on the ongoing reforms within the armed forces of both Armenia and Georgia, highlighting the strides made in enhancing defense capabilities and modernizing military structures.

An important outcome of the visit was the formal signing of a bilateral cooperation plan between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Defence of Georgia. This plan sets the framework for joint initiatives and collaborative efforts between the two defense sectors, aiming to further solidify their partnership in various defense-related aspects.


As a symbolic gesture of friendship and cooperation, Minister Juansher Burchuladze planted a personalized spruce tree within the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defense, signifying the growth and sustainability of the enduring ties between Armenia and Georgia.
