Former Armenian Hostage Vicken Euljekjian Finally Reunites With Daughter After More Than Five Years

Former Armenian hostage Vicken Euljekjian, who returned from Azerbaijani captivity on January 14, 2026, has finally reunited with his daughter after more than five and a half years apart.

Sharing the emotional moment, Euljekjian wrote, “This was one of the most emotional moments of my life.”

Euljekjian had returned to Armenia earlier this year together with three other Armenian captives — Gevorg Sujyan, Davit Davtyan, and Vagif Khachatryan — after spending more than five years in Azerbaijani captivity.

In an earlier exclusive interview with The Armenian Report following his return, Euljekjian spoke about finally seeing his son again but revealed at the time that he still had not reunited with his daughter in person.

“Two months after I returned, my son came, but I still have not seen my daughter. We only speak through video calls,” he had said during the interview.

The reunion with his daughter is another emotional chapter in the difficult years Euljekjian and his family endured during and after his captivity.

During The Armenian Report’s interview, Euljekjian also spoke about the devastating personal losses he suffered while imprisoned in Azerbaijan.

He explained that before being taken captive, he had been living in Armenia since 2016, operating a barbecue business at the Malatia market while also working as a taxi driver. He said he cared for his elderly and ill parents before his capture.

According to Euljekjian, both of his parents died during the years he spent in captivity. He also said his older brother died, while his brother’s wife later passed away as well.

He explained that his wife Linda had spent those difficult years fighting for his release while also caring for his brother’s four children.

Euljekjian has previously stated that despite everything he experienced during captivity and the losses his family suffered, he still hopes to recover, continue living in Armenia, and remain connected to his homeland.
