Four Azerbaijani Athletes Headed to Yerevan To Participate in 2023 Weightlifting Championship

Azerbaijan will have four athletes participate in the Weightlifting European Championship held in Yerevan, Armenia.

Isa Rustamov (67kg), Omar Jovodov (73kg), Ali Shukurlu (102kg) and Nazilya Ismayilova (49kg) are headed to Yerevan from Baku to participate in the championship starting this weekend.

The Armenian Report has been waiting to verify the participation of Azerbaijani athletes in the championship because, despite Armenia issuing a statement ensuring their safety, Azerbaijan had declined to confirm.

The Armenian national team also presented the list of its athletes. Armenia will be represented by 20 weightlifters, 10 men and 10 women.

The European Weightlifting Championship is scheduled to take place from April 15 to 23. On April 14 the opening ceremony of the championship will be held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Hall in Yerevan.
