Armenian-American producer Sev Ohanian is once again making headlines in Hollywood. His latest film, Sinners, continues its record-breaking success — this time at the 68th annual Grammy Awards, where it has earned five nominations, becoming one of the most-nominated films in Grammy history.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, Sinners is a dark, emotional Southern gothic drama that explores themes of faith, guilt, and survival through a mix of horror and spirituality. The film has been widely praised for its unique storytelling and powerful soundtrack, which has now gained major recognition in the world of music.
5 Grammy Nominations for Sinners
The film dominated this year’s visual media categories, receiving nominations for:
Best Score Soundtrack for Film/TV – Composer Ludwig Göransson was nominated for his haunting, gospel-infused score that captures the film’s emotional intensity and spiritual depth.
Best Song Written for Film/TV (x3) – Sinners swept the category with three original tracks:
“I Lied to You” — written by Ludwig Göransson & Raphael Saadiq, performed by Miles Caton
“Pale, Pale Moon” — written by Göransson & Brittany Howard, performed by Jayme Lawson
“Sinners” — written by Leonard Denisenko, Rod Wave, Travis Harrington, Tarkan Kozluklu, Kyris Mingo & Darius Povilinus, performed by Rod Wave
Best Compilation Soundtrack for Film/TV – The official soundtrack album, blending gospel, blues, and soul, also received a nomination for its emotional and cultural depth.
The Grammy recognition is an extraordinary year for Sinners, which has been praised for redefining modern Black horror while exploring identity and music’s role in storytelling. Its soundscape, rooted in the Black Southern experience, has turned the movie into both a cinematic and cultural event.
With five nominations, Sinners joins legendary films such as The Bodyguard, Purple Rain, and A Star Is Born, standing among the most celebrated movie soundtracks in Grammy history.

For Armenian audiences, Sinners is also another milestone for Sev Ohanian, one of Hollywood’s most successful Armenian-American filmmakers. Known for films like Judas and the Black Messiah and Searching, Ohanian continues to bring powerful and emotional stories to global audiences.
Sinners opened in theaters to massive success, earning $45.6 million in its first weekend in the United States and another $15.4 million internationally, bringing its total to $61 million worldwide.
The 68th annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 1, 2026, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where all eyes will be on Sinners to see how many awards it will bring home.
