“Tigran the Great” Film to Premiere in Pasadena, Celebrating Armenia’s Legendary King

A new cinematic work dedicated to one of Armenia’s most powerful and influential rulers will soon make its world premiere in California. On October 18, 2025, Armenians Unified will present Tigran the Great, a film that combines elements of both documentary and feature storytelling to honor the legacy of King Tigran II, known throughout history as Tigran the Great. The special event will be held at the AGBU Pasadena Performing Arts Center, located at 2495 E. Mountain Street in Pasadena.

Tigran the Great ruled Armenia during the 1st century BC and built an empire that stretched “from sea to sea.” Under his leadership, Armenia reached its greatest political and cultural height. The film shows his struggles, achievements, and his devotion to his people. By blending historical accounts with cinematic artistry, the production aims to bring to life not just the ruler himself, but also the spirit of a nation that has carried his story through generations.

The film stars well-known actor Aleksandr Khachatryan, with direction by Vaga Vardanyan. It is produced by Tigran Manasyan and Vahe Hacopian, who describe the project as more than just a film. According to them, “This is more than a film; it is an unforgettable celebration of Armenian history, culture, and identity.”
