Thousands Welcome Catholicos Karekin II Back to Yerevan Following Tensions Stirred by Pashinyan’s Accusations

His Holiness Karekin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians, returned to Yerevan on Wednesday morning, greeted by thousands of devoted citizens who came out to show their strong support for the Armenian Apostolic Church and its spiritual leader.

In his address to the faithful, His Holiness spoke directly to the concerns of the Armenian people. He referred to recent statements made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which has caused a political confrontation.

“The statements made by the Prime Minister have caused widespread indignation among the children of our nation,” the Catholicos said. “We understand the pain and worry that many of you feel.”

Despite the strong emotions surrounding these events, the Catholicos called for calm and wisdom. He urged all Armenians to remain patient and united, facing the challenges ahead with a clear mind and steady heart.

“We believe that, with God’s mercy and help, and together with you, we will be able to overcome this difficulty with wisdom, without unnecessary emotion or unrest,” he said, encouraging people not to give in to fear or division.

In a powerful gesture of humility and solidarity, Karekin II chose to walk from the airport to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church. This simple act resonated deeply with many Armenians who see their Catholicos as a true servant of the people.

The Armenian Report confirmed the Catholicos’ arrival and his peaceful procession toward Ejmiatsin, highlighting the unity and hope that many Armenians are feeling despite the difficult political moment.

As Armenia faces many challenges, the presence and words of His Holiness Karekin II remind the nation of its deep roots in faith, tradition, and resilience. For many Armenians, the Catholicos’ return is a moment to come together and look forward to a future filled with strength, peace, and unity.
