Top Armenian-American Google AI Executive Meets Armenian Ambassador to Advance Digital Preservation of Armenia’s Heritage

Armenia and Google are discussing new ways to work together on the digital preservation of Armenian cultural heritage. The topic was raised during a visit by Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan, to Google’s headquarters in San Francisco. The Embassy of Armenia in the United States shared details of the meeting.


The visit took place on November 20, when Ambassador Mkrtchyan met with Hrach Achajyan, Head of AI GTM and the leader of Google’s strategy for applying artificial intelligence tools. Armenia’s Consul General in Los Angeles, Karen Israelyan, also took part in the meeting, along with Google’s International Cooperation team member Raven Bellamy and company representative Gohar Galyan.

The discussion focused on expanding cooperation between Armenia and Google in several areas. Participants explored how artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies could support Armenia’s goals for innovation and growth. A key topic was the possibility of presenting Armenian cultural heritage on Google Arts & Culture, a platform that allows people around the world to access museums, historical collections, and cultural archives online.


According to the Embassy, “The meeting addressed potential areas of cooperation, prospects for the development of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, the possibility of digitizing Armenian cultural heritage through Google Arts & Culture, as well as the fields where Google’s expertise can most effectively support the strengthening of Armenia’s technological ecosystem.”
