President Donald Trump said Vice President J.D. Vance will travel to Armenia and Azerbaijan in February as part of U.S. efforts to build on a peace agreement signed between the two countries last summer.

In a public social media post, Trump praised Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for upholding the agreement, which was signed in August and aimed at easing long-standing tensions between the neighboring South Caucasus nations.

“This was a nasty war,” Trump wrote, describing the agreement as one of several conflicts he claims were resolved during his leadership. He said the focus has now shifted toward “prosperity and peace.”

According to Trump, Vance’s visit will be intended to advance what he called the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” and to expand diplomatic, economic and security cooperation in the region.

Trump said the United States plans to pursue a peaceful nuclear cooperation agreement with Armenia, along with potential business deals involving U.S. semiconductor companies. He also said Washington will seek to strengthen its strategic partnership with Azerbaijan, including through the sale of U.S.-made defense equipment such as body armor and boats.

The announcement comes as Armenia and Azerbaijan continue efforts to stabilize relations following decades of conflict, most recently centered on the Nagorno-Karabakh region. While details of Vance’s planned meetings were not immediately provided, the trip would mark a high-level U.S. engagement in the region since the signing of the peace agreement.

The White House has not released additional information on the itinerary or timing of the vice president’s visit beyond Trump’s statement.
