YouTube has announced that its Partner Program will soon be available in Armenia, opening the door for creators in the country to earn money from their videos and officially join the platform’s global creator economy. This is an important change for Armenia’s digital space, where many independent journalists, educators, entertainers, and businesses already use YouTube to reach local and international audiences.
Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, welcomed the decision and linked it to the country’s broader digital development goals. He said the expansion would help strengthen the digital economy, support a fast-growing community of local creators, and raise the international profile of Armenian culture and innovation.
“We welcome YouTube’s announcement regarding the expansion of its engagement in the Armenian market. This is an important step toward strengthening Armenia’s digital economy, empowering our rapidly growing community of content creators, and promoting the global visibility of Armenian content, culture, and innovation. For Armenia, platforms such as YouTube are not only about content; they are about economic opportunity, digital entrepreneurship, and strengthening societal resilience against disinformation through diverse and trustworthy voices. The Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia will continue to cooperate with major global partners to ensure that Armenian creators and technology companies are fully integrated into the global digital ecosystem. We look forward to the continued development of these positive dynamics together with our American partners and are ready to deepen cooperation with YouTube and the broader technology community,” the minister said in a statement.
According to YouTube, the Partner Program is expected to go live in Armenia in the spring. Once it launches, creators in the country will be able to apply to monetize their content and become part of a worldwide network of more than three million people who have turned video production into a source of income. The company noted that information about eligibility requirements will be available to Armenian users so they can prepare their channels in advance.
YouTube also mentioned the financial scale of its creator ecosystem, saying that it has paid out over 100 billion dollars to creators, artists, and media companies during the last four years alone. With the Armenian rollout of the Partner Program, the company said it aims to continue growing the global creator economy, investing in content, creating jobs, and helping people build businesses both on and off the platform.
The decision is likely to be significant for Armenia’s technology sector and creative industries, where many young professionals already rely on online platforms for education, marketing, and international exposure. Officials have framed the development as part of a longer-term effort to integrate Armenian technology companies and digital workers into global markets while also strengthening reliable online voices.
Before this announcement, YouTube was already widely used in Armenia and supported the Armenian language in its interface and content tools, allowing users to navigate the platform, upload videos, and watch Armenian-language material. However, local creators could not officially join the Partner Program to earn revenue from ads and other features. The new rollout changes that, giving Armenian creators access to the same monetization system available in many other countries.
