World leaders are already in Yerevan for the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, which will take place on May 4. The Armenian capital is hosting presidents, prime ministers, and top European officials for one of the region’s largest political gatherings.
Among those present in Yerevan are Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron, along with other leaders from across Europe. Presidents of Romania, Moldova, Switzerland, Greece, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia have also arrived, as well as the Prince of Monaco.
Prime ministers from several countries are also in Yerevan, including those of Canada, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Poland, Norway, Lithuania, Serbia, Finland, Luxembourg, Georgia, Estonia, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Andorra, and Belgium. Their presence reflects the wide international participation in the summit.
Senior European officials have also gathered in Armenia’s capital. These include António Costa, Ursula von der Leyen, Roberta Metsola, Feridun Sinirlioğlu, and Alain Berset.
The summit will bring together leaders to discuss key regional issues, cooperation, and shared challenges. Hosting the meeting in Yerevan places Armenia at the center of high-level political dialogue in Europe.
It was reported earlier that Friedrich Merz will not travel to Armenia to attend the summit due to other work commitments. According to reports, a government spokesperson told DPA, “Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz will not come to Armenia to participate in the 8th European Political Community summit due to other work commitments.”
The European Political Community is a platform created in 2022 to bring together European countries for political dialogue and cooperation. It includes both European Union member states and non-EU countries, aiming to strengthen coordination on issues such as security, stability, and economic cooperation across the continent.
