A small group of people who had remained in Artsakh, also known as Nagorno-Karabakh, have now been relocated to Armenia, Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs announced.
According to Minister Arsen Torosyan, ten Armenians and one citizen of the Republic of Armenia of Russian nationality living in Artsakh asked to move to Armenia. He explained that the individuals submitted formal requests to the relevant authorities in both Azerbaijan and Armenia. After these petitions were reviewed and approved, the group was transported to Armenia.
Torosyan made the announcement in a public message, stating:
“Dear compatriots, I inform you that 10 Armenians and one citizen of the Republic of Armenia of Russian nationality, who were residing in the Republic of Azerbaijan (in Karabakh), submitted petitions to the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan and Armenia requesting relocation to the Republic of Armenia. Based on these petitions, the individuals mentioned have been relocated to the Republic of Armenia.”
Following the announcement, The Armenian Report contacted the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs for further details. Nver Kostanyan, the press secretary to the minister, confirmed that the group arrived in Armenia the same day but said no personal information would be released.
He said:
“We cannot provide any information regarding the personal details of the returned citizens. As was officially announced, they were relocated to Armenia based on their applications, and they arrived today. As with our other compatriots, we will take care of them as well, assess their needs, and address them accordingly. We cannot provide additional information.”
In addition, Armenia’s Ministry of Health sent a medical team to welcome the group and provide urgent care if needed. Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan reported that all 11 individuals underwent medical examinations. One person was hospitalized at the Goris Medical Center for additional tests, while the health condition of the remaining ten was reported as satisfactory.
Although only a small number of people were relocated today, Armenian officials emphasized that individual relocation cases continue to be handled through official channels, based on applications submitted by those wishing to leave. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs stated that it will continue managing these cases carefully, focusing on the needs of new arrivals without disclosing personal information.
It is still unclear whether any Armenians remain in Artsakh.
