A total of 110 Indian citizens have now been safely evacuated from Iran using a transit route through Armenia, according to Ani Badalyan, spokesperson for Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This update comes just a day after it was reported that India had begun evacuating its citizens—primarily students—from Iran with Armenia playing a key role as a safe and stable transit. The evacuation is taking place as the conflict between Iran and Israel continues to escalate, following Israel’s June 13 strike on Iranian targets and Iran’s subsequent retaliatory attacks.
The use of Armenian territory as a humanitarian corridor was reportedly discussed during a phone call on Monday between the foreign ministers of India and Armenia. Indian media have also confirmed the evacuation effort through Armenia.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs earlier announced that its embassy in Tehran is closely coordinating with Iranian authorities and educational institutions to ensure the safety of Indian nationals, especially students. The Embassy of India had specifically requested assistance from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in arranging safe departures.
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had also confirmed that formal arrangements were made to secure the passage of Indian students, while the Indian embassy emphasized its commitment to their safe evacuation.
While sharing a northern border with Iran, Armenia has positioned itself as a key transit and humanitarian partner during rising regional tensions.
