India Safely Evacuating Indian Citizens Through Armenia As Iran-Israel Conflict Deepens

India has begun safely evacuating its citizens—mostly students—from Iran using a route through Armenia as the conflict between Iran and Israel intensifies. The Indian government confirmed on Monday that evacuations are underway, with Armenia playing a key role as a safe transit country.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs announced that its embassy in Tehran is closely monitoring the situation and working directly with Iranian authorities and educational institutions to arrange for safe departures. The Embassy of India in Tehran specifically requested support from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences to help coordinate the departure of Indian students enrolled there.

According to a statement made by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 15, formal arrangements have been made to ensure the security of students traveling out of the country. The Indian embassy emphasized that it will assume full responsibility for the students’ safe passage during the evacuation.

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Effie Deffrin told CNN-News18, “We will help in whatever way possible to ensure the safe evacuation of Indian nationals from Iran.” Efforts are being made to assure India of its cooperation.
