Armenia’s Mamikon Khachatryan Wins Silver at World Gymnastics Championships

Armenia continues to shine on the world gymnastics stage, as 19-year-old Mamikon Khachatryan claimed a silver medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The young athlete, who is already a European silver medalist, delivered an impressive performance in the pommel horse final, scoring 14.600 points and earning the title of world vice-champion.

Khachatryan shared the same score with China’s Yangmin Yong, who was awarded the gold medal. The bronze went to the United States’ Parek Hoops, who finished closely behind with 14.566 points.

Armenia’s other representative in the event, Hamlet Manukyan, also delivered a strong performance. The European champion and two-time junior world champion finished 4th with 14.433 points, narrowly missing the podium. During the qualification round, Khachatryan had advanced with 14.400 points, while Manukyan had secured his spot with 14.500 points.

This competition is the first senior world championship appearance for both Khachatryan and Manukyan, making their results a major milestone for Armenia’s next generation of gymnasts. Their success shows the continued progress and strength of the Armenian gymnastics program, which has built a strong reputation in recent years through dedication and consistent international results.

Artur Davtyan, Olympic silver medalist, world champion, and three-time European champion, also advanced to the vault final. Davtyan placed second in the vault qualification with a score of 14.566 points, securing his place among the top contenders. The final will take place on October 25, where the Armenian star will once again aim for a medal.
