Armenia’s Wings of Tatev Secures Top Spot for the Second Time at World Travel Awards 2023
Armenia’s acclaimed Wings of Tatev has once again secured the prestigious title of "The World's Leading Cable Car Ride" at the World Travel Awards 2023, solidifying its position as a global tourism landmark. This marks the second consecutive win in the "Leading Cable Car in the World" category, surpassing competitors from various countries such as Bolivia, Brazil, Vietnam, Canada, New Zealand, the USA, and South Africa.
The award ceremony, held at the International World Travel Awards in Dubai, saw David Vardanyan, the son of project founder Ruben Vardanyan, accept the esteemed accolade on behalf of the Wings of Tatev.
Expressing gratitude for the international recognition, a statement from Wings of Tatev read, "It is a great honor for us to receive such a prestigious international recognition. This award strengthens Armenia's status as a leading tourist destination. This victory belongs to all of us. We express our deep gratitude to everyone who voted for Wings of Tatev and helped raise Armenia's honor in the international tourism arena."
The Wings of Tatev, an integral part of the "Tatev Revival" program initiated by Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabend, is managed by Impulse Business Management.
Renowned for its awe-inspiring length of 5,752 meters, the Wings of Tatev holds the distinction of being the world's longest passenger cable car, cementing its place in the Guinness Book of Records. Notably, the project's swift construction, completed within a mere 10 months, is credited to the expertise of Austrian-Swiss company Doppelmayr/Garaventa, esteemed leaders in ropeway construction.
Celebrating its 13th anniversary on Monday, the Wings of Tatev has become an emblem of pride for Armenia. Since its inauguration in 2010, it has served as a lifeline for over 1,300,000 visitors, playing a pivotal role in bolstering tourism in the region. It has notably attracted every fifth tourist to Armenia, contributing significantly to the local economy.
This cable car project not only connects visitors to the historic Tatev Monastery but also aids in its restoration and benefits the local community. Managed by Impulse Business Management, all proceeds from the cable car contribute to these noble causes, establishing it as a beacon of sustainable tourism and community support.
The public is encouraged to vote for Wings of Tatev in the World Travel Awards 2023 until November 17.
