Armenia Wins Third Medal at European Championships as Suren Aghajanyan Takes Silver

The Greco-Roman wrestling competitions at the European Championship in Tirana are coming to an end today, with Armenia continuing to add to its medal count.

Armenia secured its third medal of the tournament just moments ago. Suren Aghajanyan, the Under-23 European champion, competed in the final in the 60 kg weight category against Georgi Tibilov, who is the 2023 World bronze medalist and the current European vice-champion.

In the first period, Aghajanyan managed to take the lead, winning by a two-point margin. However, in the second period, his opponent was able to equalize the score and eventually claim victory.

This European Championship is the first senior-level competition for the 22-year-old Armenian wrestler. On his way to the final, Aghajanyan had three matches and achieved confident wins in all of them.

Later today, Slavik Galstyan and Gaspar Terteryan are scheduled to compete for bronze medals, as Armenia looks to further improve its results.

Earlier in the tournament, Malkhas Amoyan became European champion, while Karen Aslanyan secured a bronze medal for Armenia.
